THEY WON’T BE THIS SMALL FOR LONG

Gentle, Relaxed Sessions That Work Around Your Family

The early days with a new baby are beautiful, emotional, exhausting and often a blur all at once. My newborn sessions are relaxed and baby-led, taking place in the comfort of your own home, with no pressure for perfect routines, spotless houses or posed performances.

There’s plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, nappy changes and breaks whenever needed. Sessions are completely baby-led and designed to feel calm and natural, capturing your family as you really are during these early days together.

Planning Your Photoshoot

LEt’s Get ready

From the moment you get in touch, my aim is to make the whole experience feel calm, flexible and easy. We’ll start by answering any initial questions you have, and secure a rough timeframe around your due date, then confirm the exact session once your baby arrives.

Before the session, we’ll chat about what matters most to you. Whether you’d love photographs of the whole family together, want to include siblings or grandparents, or simply want to capture this stage of life, I’ll shape the session around your family. I’m always happy to help with outfit choices too, but there’s no expectation for anything overly styled or formal.

Sessions take place in your home, using the spaces where your family spend time in. The nursery you’ve carefully prepared, cuddles on the sofa, feeding in the bedroom, little moments in the places that will hold so many memories over the years ahead. All family homes work beautifully for this kind of photography.

A Calm, Baby-led Session

I’ll take care of the rest

By the time session day arrives, all you’ll need to do is slow down, cuddle your baby, and let me take care of the rest.

Newborn sessions are calm, flexible and led by your family. There’s no rush, no pressure for babies to sleep, and no expectation for siblings to sit perfectly still. We simply work around whatever your baby (& any siblings) needs in the moment, whether that’s feeding, cuddles, changing, settling or taking a break.

I’ll gently guide you where needed, but much of the session is simply about letting your family be together naturally. Some of the photographs parents treasure most come from the in-between moments. Feeding your baby in the nursery you spent months preparing. Tiny fingers wrapped around yours. A toddler climbing onto the sofa for a cuddle before racing off again.

The photoshoot is designed to feel relaxed and unhurried from beginning to end, creating photographs that feel honest, natural and full of connection.

Your Story, Preserved

The Little details you’ll Miss One day

Within two to three weeks of your session, you’ll receive your gallery via a private online gallery. The aim is always to create photographs that feel timeless, natural and genuinely true to your family.

Alongside the portraits and family photographs, I pay close attention to the small details that are so easy to forget once this stage has passed. The way your baby curls up against your chest, milk-drunk sleepy expressions, tiny fingers and eyelashes, the way older siblings look at them in those first few weeks.

Many families choose to turn their photographs into albums, frames for their home or gifts for the grandparents, so the images become part of everyday family life rather than simply living on a phone or hard drive. These photographs often grow more valuable with time, both for you and eventually for your children too.

The early days are exhausting and emotional and often pass in a blur. My job is to help you hold onto a small piece of them.

RELAXED IN HOME NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

Most families book me because they want photographs that feel natural, relaxed and genuinely reflective of this stage of life, rather than heavily posed or overly styled.

My sessions are built around connection, comfort and the small moments that matter most. Tiny stretches, cuddles on the sofa, feeding your baby, siblings climbing in for a quick hug before running off again. The kinds of memories that often become more meaningful with time.

There’s no pressure for sleepy newborn poses, spotless homes or perfectly behaved children. The aim is simply to create honest photographs that feel like your family.

If you’re drawn to genuine photographs that feel like your family, my approach will feel like a good fit.

In-Home Lifestyle Photography

WHY NEW PARENTS CHOOSE LIFESTYLE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

Many of my newborn clients started as family clients — or became family clients afterwards. That’s one of the things I’m proudest of: families loving how I work, and trusting me with more than one chapter of their journey.

I know how quickly these early days pass. One moment you’re counting tiny fingers and figuring out feeding schedules, and the next your baby is crawling, then walking, then going off to school! My approach is built around preserving this chapter of family life as it really felt.

Many of the families I photograph are looking for something calmer and more natural than a traditional posed newborn session. They want photographs of real connection. Feeding your baby in the chair you’ve spent hours sitting in. Tiny stretches on the bed. Siblings climbing in for cuddles. The ordinary little moments that become some of the most meaningful memories later on.

A few things that might matter to you: I’m paediatric first aid trained, experienced with children of all ages and temperaments, and very used to working around the unpredictability that comes with newborn life. Sessions are flexible, unhurried and built entirely around your family and your baby’s needs on the day. Because when everyone feels comfortable, the photographs become something much more meaningful. Images that genuinely feel like your family and this moment in your lives together.

things people ask

Questions

Most families book during pregnancy to make sure I have availability around their due date, but the session itself can take place whenever feels right for your family. Some babies are photographed in their first couple of weeks, while others are a little older. Lifestyle newborn photography is much more flexible than posed studio photography, so there’s no pressure around a specific age window.

There’s no strict “correct” age. Newborn sessions can work beautifully with tiny sleepy newborns, more alert older babies, or anywhere in between. The most important thing is choosing a time that feels manageable for you as a family.

Absolutely not. Real family homes are part of the story, and I promise I’m looking for connection far more than perfection. Before the session, I’ll guide you on which rooms tend to work best and any small things you may want to move, but most homes work beautifully exactly as they are lived in.

That’s completely expected. Sessions are entirely baby-led, with plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, nappy changes and breaks whenever needed. There’s no rushing and no pressure for your baby to “perform”.

Definitely. My newborn sessions are really about your whole family and the relationships between you. Parents, siblings and even grandparents are all very welcome to be part of the session.

The most important thing is choosing clothing that feels comfortable, natural and like you. Soft, neutral or earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully, and it’s usually best to avoid large logos or very bright colours that distract from the connection between you.

Newborn sessions are relaxed and home-based, so comfort matters too. Bare feet, cosy knits, relaxed dresses and simple baby clothing often work really well. Once you’ve booked, I’m always happy to help if you’d like advice on outfits or colour combinations.

Don’t worry. I’m very used to photographing in all kinds of homes and lighting situations. We’ll use the spaces that work best, and lifestyle newborn photography is much more about connection and atmosphere than having a perfect house.

Most sessions last around 60 – 90 minutes, depending on your baby and how the morning or afternoon unfolds. I always allow plenty of time so the session feels calm and relaxed rather than rushed.

Your gallery will usually be ready within around 2–3 weeks of your session. You’ll be able to choose your favourite images and download or purchase your collection directly from your online gallery.

Of course. A lot of families get in touch while they’re still deciding whether a newborn session is right for them. I’m always happy to answer questions and talk things through before you book.
