You’re Building Something Good — Let’s Make Sure It Looks Good

You’ve been meaning to sort the photos out for months. Maybe longer. Your website needs them. Your Instagram needs them. Your Google listing is sitting there looking half-finished. But somehow it keeps dropping to the bottom of the list while you focus on everything else your business needs from you.

Most of the people I photograph tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera, and I completely get it. I’m far happier behind the camera than in front of it myself. That’s why the sessions are relaxed, well-planned and straightforward.

We’ll talk beforehand about what you need the photographs for, the kind of feel you want your business to have, and the parts of your work you want people to connect with. By the end, most people are surprised by how easy it felt — and by how much better their business suddenly looks online afterwards.

Good photographs don’t just fill space on a website. They help people trust you before they’ve even met you.

Let’s Plan Your Shoot

MAKING THE PROCESS FEEL EASY

Before the session, we’ll talk through your business, what you need the photographs for, and how you want your brand to feel online. Whether you need website images, fresh social media content, team photos, behind-the-scenes images or simply photographs that finally feel like you, we’ll plan it all properly beforehand.

We’ll also talk about locations, outfits, colours, props and the kind of impression you want your business to give. Having a clear plan before the session makes the whole thing feel far less overwhelming, particularly if you’re not someone who naturally enjoys being in front of the camera.

The goal is to create photographs that genuinely reflect your business and help people connect with the person behind it, rather than generic images that could belong to anyone.

Because we do this planning beforehand, you’ll approach the shoot knowing exactly what to expect, what we’re creating together, and how the photographs are going to work for your business afterwards.

Your Shoot Day

WITHOUT THE AWKWARDNESS

Most people are slightly nervous about being photographed, but almost everyone leaves saying it was far easier than they expected.

During the session, I’ll guide you throughout so you’re never left wondering what to do with your hands or how to stand. Some photographs will be more lightly directed, while others are captured naturally as you work, talk, create or interact with clients.

The sessions are designed to feel relaxed and conversational rather than overly posed. We can work from your business premises, outdoors, or across a few nearby locations depending on the style of photographs you’re looking for. Often the best settings are the simplest ones: a favourite café, quiet streets nearby, somewhere you regularly work, meet clients or spend time.

The goal is to create photographs that feel approachable, professional and reflective of your business, while making the process feel far less uncomfortable than you imagined.

Photos You’ll Feel Good About Using

PROFESSIONAL, NATURAL IMAGES THAT WORK FOR YOUR BUSINESS

After the session, you’ll receive a gallery of carefully edited images designed to work across your website, social media, Google listing, newsletters and wherever else you need them. The aim is to give you variety and flexibility, so you’re not reaching for the same two photographs over and over again.

Good photographs make running a business online feel easier. Your website looks more polished, posting on Instagram stops feeling like such a chore, and you’ve finally got photos ready when an opportunity comes up instead of scrambling to find something that will do.

You end up with a gallery full of images that actually feel useful. Different locations, details, working shots, relaxed portraits, photographs you can crop differently and reuse in lots of places without everything looking repetitive.

And, perhaps most importantly, you’ll finally have photographs of yourself and your business that you’re genuinely comfortable putting out into the world.

Lyndsey has a real talent for putting people at ease, and that comes through in the photos. I love the variety of shots she captured, there’s something for every occasion.

Small Business Photographer in BERkhamsted

I’m based in Berkhamsted and photograph small businesses across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London. The businesses I photograph range from one-person brands working from home to established local companies needing a bank of fresh, natural content for their website and marketing.

One of the nice things about small business photography is that no two shoots look the same. Some happen in lovely bright studios, others squeezed into busy working days with laptops, deliveries, half-drunk coffees and dogs wandering in and out of shot. That realness is usually what makes the photographs work.

Why Small Businesses Work With Me

Why should you choose me as your photographer?

I run a small business too, AO I know what it’s like to do everything yourself, to keep putting the photos off, and to feel slightly awkward about putting your face on your own website. I’m much happier behind the camera than in front of it, which is probably why I’m good at photographing people who feel the same way.

Whether you’ve built your business already, or you’re still in the early days of getting it off the ground, I know what that takes. Therapists, cake makers, personal trainers, freelancers, local shop owners, mums who’ve just launched something and need proper photos. If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

My job is to make the session easy and the photos useful. Not arty for the sake of it, not over-styled, not corporate. Just you, your work, and images you’ll actually use. On your website, your social channels, your Google listing, your business cards. If you need help with the other bits too, a website, marketing support, or anything else a growing business needs, I know lots of good people locally and I’m happy to point you in the right direction.

THINGS PEOPLE ASK

Questions

You are very definitely not the only one. Most people who book these sessions tell me beforehand that they feel awkward in front of the camera or don’t know what to do with themselves. The sessions are designed to feel relaxed and conversational rather than overly posed, and I’ll guide you throughout so you’re never left wondering what to do. Most people leave saying it felt far easier than they expected.

I always recommend wearing something that feels like you, perhaps just slightly more polished than everyday life. Once you’re booked in, I’m very happy to help you plan outfits and talk through what will work best for your business and the kind of photographs you want to create.

Absolutely. Products, packaging, laptops, notebooks, tools, coffee cups, flowers, ingredients — all the little things that are genuinely part of your work help make the photographs feel more natural and personal. Before the shoot we’ll talk through what’s worth including and what will help tell the story of your business best.

You’ll receive a small preview selection within a few days of the session, with the full gallery following shortly afterwards. I know most people are booking because they actually need the photographs for something, so I always aim to get them back to you as quickly as possible. If you’re working to a particular deadline please ask and I’ll see what I can do to help.

Most businesses benefit from updating their photographs every year or two, particularly if your business has evolved, your branding has changed, or you’ve simply run out of photographs you still like using. Some people book one larger shoot and then top up with smaller sessions later on when they need fresh content.

This page is designed for sole traders and small teams. If you’re a larger business looking for event coverage, team photos, or something more extensive, take a look at my corporate photography page, or get in touch and I’ll put together something tailored to you.

Yes — alongside personal brand photography, I also photograph products and the details that make your business feel recognisable. That might be packaging, food, treatments, tools, handmade products, flat lays, workspace details, or styled photographs for your website and social media. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Yes. Most shoots take place at your business premises, outdoors, or in natural light locations, but I also have a small home setup that works well for headshots, product photography and simple content creation. If your business needs something larger or more specialist, I’m also happy to hire studio space and organise that with you beforehand.
